TicketsNow Announces Entertainment Index for June

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., July 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — It must be love for tennis fans, whose US Open 2011 ticket purchases on TicketsNow.com, a leading online resale marketplace for event tickets, propelled the event to the top of the TicketsNow Entertainment Index for June.

The US Open, which runs August 29 through September 11 this year, typically attracts more than 700,000 fans each year, creating a high demand for session tickets. The annual tennis event accounted for 8.7% of tickets sold on TicketsNow.com in June, more than twice that of the next closest event, the San Francisco Giants.

In the Sports category, baseball accounted for three of the top five sporting events last month. The defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants kept pace with Concacaf Gold Cup soccer and narrowly overtook the New York Yankees, who had scored the top Sports spot in May.

Living musical legend Paul McCartney is selling out ballparks across the country, making his “On The Run” tour the hottest concert ticket of the summer. Songstress Taylor Swift, who continues her multi-city “Speak Now” tour, captured the second spot in the Concert category narrowly edging out iconic Irish rockers U2.

And in Theater, Tony Award-winning The Book of Mormon continued to play second fiddle to Wicked with superheroes, circus clowns, and comedians rounding out the category.
