LONDON, (01 November, 2016) – SMG Europe announced today that it will be partnering with Ticketmaster as its Official Ticketing Partner at the expiry of its current ticketing contract. The move is expected to take place by summer 2018.

The business-driven move follows on from the collaborative success achieved on the Bristol Arena venture, as well as other projects across Europe.

As the largest operator of sports and entertainment venues in the UK and Europe, SMG Europe requires the best in ticketing services. Ticketmaster’s world class, industry-leading technology solutions – including paperless ticketing – unrivalled marketing reach and distribution channels, and customer insight are a true match for the worldwide leader.

As part of the partnership, SMG Europe will also appoint Ticketmaster’s resale platform as the official resale marketplace, ensuring fans are able to buy and sell unwanted tickets safely and securely. Ticketmaster will utilise its unique technology to verify tickets listed on its platform, and when sold, reissue in the buyers name, guaranteeing the seat fans buy, is the seat they get.

John Sharkey, Executive Vice President of European Operations for SMG Europe said: “I am delighted that the successes in project collaboration will be widened into an enlarged relationship with Ticketmaster as a strategic ticketing partner in due course.”

Andrew Parsons, Managing Director of Ticketmaster UK added: “SMG Europe and Ticketmaster share the same ambitions: understand our audience; provide a premium service to promoters; sell tickets fast, and ultimately get more tickets into the hands of fans. As such, we are thrilled to announce what will no doubt be a fruitful and enjoyable partnership. Our experienced team look forward to providing Ticketmaster’s best-in-class services to SMG venues across the UK yet again.”

With the SMG European head office operating out of Manchester Arena, having the dedicated Ticketmaster contact centre team based nearby in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter is an additional plus for the company.

Ticketmaster has given millions of fans access to the biggest events in music, sports and entertainment since it was formed forty years ago, and the announcement of the partnership cements the company’s position as an industry leader.

SMG Europe is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMG, the worldwide leader in venue management.
