Guns N’ Roses Named UK’s Ticket of the Year 2017

Ticketmaster poll reveals the country’s favourite live events of 2017 and most hotly-anticipated shows for next year

LONDON 30 November 2017: Ticketmaster, the global ticket marketplace leader that provides 480 million tickets to fans across 29 countries, has polled British fans from its database of 85 million live entertainment fans around the world to discover the most popular live events in 2017.

Guns N’ Roses has been named as the UK’s Ticket of the Year 2017 following the survey by Ticketmaster. The Rock legends’ two London Stadium shows were voted as the best live event in the UK over the past year, beating off stiff competition from U2 at Twickenham in second place, and Download Festival in Donington Park, in third.

London continues to be the most popular city for live entertainment in the UK, followed by Glasgow and Manchester.

The biggest names in rock music have dominated the UK’s top spots with the inaugural Scottish TRNSMT festival, the famous Download Festival, and legendary bands Metallica and U2 completing the top five tickets of 2017.

Looking at the global results, British music continues to reign supreme, with Coldplay taking the top spot in the Ticket of the Year list. Their immense technicolour ‘Head Full of Dreams’ tour has been witnessed by a staggering 5,389,586 million fans since it kicked off, produced by Live Nation, and become the third highest grossing global tour of all time. The win secures a remarkable back-to-back success for the band, who were also named Global Ticket of the Year in 2016.Continuing the British trend, Ed Sheeran takes second place – his tour saw Ticketmaster Europe’s busiest day, selling over 1M tickets.

Looking ahead to next year, American Rockers, Foo Fighters, have been named as the UK’s most anticipated event for 2018. The band’s ‘Concrete and Gold’ Tour shows in Manchester and London in June 2018 have got pulses racing already as fans count down to what promises to be an unforgettable concert. Other hotly anticipated shows for 2018 in the UK include Ed Sheeran, P!NK and Taylor Swift.
