Ticketmaster Drives Innovation As New Official Ticketing Partner for San Diego Padres

New Deal Includes Petco Park and Brand-New Sycuan Stage Concert Venue Inside the ‘Park at the Park’

Los Angeles, CA — Ticketmaster, the global leader in advanced ticketing technologies, has newly partnered with Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres to power the digital ticketing and venue technology for all Padres home games, concerts, and events held at the award-winning Petco Park. Through this new partnership, Ticketmaster will also support all concerts and live events taking place at the brand-new Sycuan Stage inside the “Park at the Park”, which is located behind the batter’s eye in center field.

Under the new multi-year agreement, the San Diego Padres will install Ticketmaster Presence™, the next generation digital ticketing and venue access control platform, which will create an entirely new live experience at the ballpark with faster stadium entry, increased fraud protection, and a much more personalized experience for Padres fans. Ticketmaster Presence will streamline Petco Park’s venue operations, providing real time fan insights and analytics for event owners.

With digital ticketing, Padres fans will be able to conveniently access tickets to all 81 Padres home games on their mobile device and download them to a digital wallet. Beginning in the 2020 season, fans will be able to buy tickets at ticketmaster.com/mlb or via the Ticketmaster app.

“Ticketmaster is the premier ticketing and venue platform for live event entertainment and no one does it better.  We couldn’t be more excited to have them as our official ticketing partner starting next season,” said Erik Greupner, President of Business Operations at the San Diego Padres. “San Diego is a hub for technological innovation and we want to provide our Padres fans with innovative and seamless ways to make their time at the ballpark even more enjoyable. With Ticketmaster, we’ll be able to deliver that and more.”

Located in walkable downtown San Diego, Petco Park and the San Diego Padres have famously seen high rates of last-minute walk ups at the box office. With Ticketmaster, fans will now be able to receive their tickets instantly via SMS text upon purchase from the box office window.

“The San Diego Padres have long prioritized taking an innovative approach to all aspects of their 50-year strong franchise, from their best-in-class venue to how they engage with their fans,” said Clay Luter, EVP of Sports at Ticketmaster North America. “Now with Ticketmaster as their official partner, the Padres and their fans will have the safest and best ticketing options available for Petco Park and Sycuan Stage events thanks to our industry-leading technology, designed to create the most enjoyable live event experiences for fans.”

Sycuan Stage is the new, world-class concert venue inside Park at the Park that the Padres officially unveiled earlier this year. The outdoor venue boasts a 2.8-acre space with a capacity of more than 9,500. The Sycuan Stage in the Park at the Park is the first outdoor venue of its kind to be included inside a Major League Baseball ballpark.

The San Diego Padres celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2019 and have invested millions into renovating Petco Park, which was named the best ballpark in baseball by USA Today. Petco Park was also chosen as the premier food and beverage destination by MLB Network in 2019 thanks to its 15+ locally-based food partners from throughout the San Diego area and its nearly 100 beer offerings.
