Live Nation, Crowded House And The Push Providing Mentorship Opportunities For Women And Gender Non-Binary Youth To Explore Careers In Live Music

Applications now open for technical production and tour management roles on the upcoming ‘Dreamers Are Waiting’ tour

Australian youth music organisation The Push is partnering with Crowded House and Live Nation to create a mentorship experience for youth interested in careers in live entertainment. The initiative focuses on providing opportunities for women and gender non-binary people, who have a historically lower participation rate within Australia’s live entertainment sector, to progress their career pathways within contemporary music.

The program will allow two successful applicants the opportunity to gain substantial work experience, develop skills, networks, practical training, mentorship, and confidence in bespoke roles on the upcoming six-date Crowded House ‘Dreamers are Waiting’ tour across Australia’s most prominent and busiest live entertainment venues.

The chosen mentees will be mentored in the roles of Stage Technician and Tour and Production Management, supporting Sarin Moddle and Manny Economidis, seasoned tour professionals. The mentees will be included as official members of the Crowded House touring team, with access to meet regularly with other crew members including industry veterans Nik Tischler, Live Nation’s Vice President of Touring and Logistics and Robert Herr, Crowded House Tour and Production Manager. The program also provides training from Arts Centre Melbourne, which will cover event safety and event bump in/bump out, before heading off on the national tour in April.

Kate Duncan, CEO of The Push commented on the programThe last two years have had a disproportionate impact on young people entering careers in the live music sector. Now is a critical time to be supporting our next generation of live music sector professionals to develop the skills, confidence, and networks needed for successful career pathways.

Crowded House said “As artists we are always in awe of the talented people that work behind the scenes to make our shows happen. We recognise the disparity in gender back-stage and this mentoring opportunity is a first step that we can take to help create an inclusive space for the next generation.”

“The ability to provide emerging professionals the opportunity to learn and grow through the guidance of industry leaders is not only hugely exciting, but also a priority for Live Nation. We’re proud to support young Australian women and gender non-binary people and help present opportunities to grow into a career within live entertainment, said Nik Tischler, Vice President of Production and Logistics, Live Nation Australia.

The successful applicants will be selected through a competitive application process, focusing on the applicant’s ability to demonstrate a commitment to a career in technical production or tour management.

Crowded House’s ‘Dreamers are Waiting’ tour commences in April 2022, with the iconic Aussie rockers set to perform their fresh new music and legendary anthems across Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Bowral, and Byron Bay.

Applications open Tuesday, 1 February 2022, and close at 5:00pm on Tuesday, 22 February 2022.
