League turns to Ticketmaster to deliver digital innovations that power the future of fan experience
Ticketmaster announced today it has extended its long-standing relationship with the National Football League (NFL).
Citing Ticketmaster’s track record of delivering industry-altering innovations, the NFL is looking toward the future.
“We are focused on building next generation fan experiences,” said Bobby Gallo, NFL Senior Vice President of Club Business Development. “Ticketmaster’s technology and distribution platform lead the industry; but, more importantly, they are laser-focused on driving future innovation. This makes them an ideal ticketing partner for the NFL.”
The introduction of new technologies and digital enhancements across the fan experience are a key component of the partnership extension.
“The NFL relies on Ticketmaster for our technology leadership,” said Clay Luter, Ticketmaster Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Sports. “We are actively exploring a number of emerging technologies, looking ahead to the 2022 season to launch some pioneering innovations we think have the opportunity to take the fan experience to the next level.”
The partnership renewal extends Ticketmaster’s collaboration with the NFL, a relationship that has led to several industry-leading innovations, including:
- Acceleration of Digital Ticket Adoption
During the 2021 NFL regular season alone, Ticketmaster scanned in more than 15.5 million fans into stadiums across the country, 97% of which were mobile entry. Ticketmaster first launched digital ticketing with the NFL in 2017, offering the benefit of a secure, frictionless experience for fans and venues, and the technology quickly set a new industry standard for live event ticketing.
- Pioneered Open Ticketing Platform
Ticketmaster developed and powers the NFL Ticket Exchange, a first-of-its-kind open ticketing platform that offers fans a wide range of options. The Exchange serves as the League’s ticketing hub for both primary and resale tickets, providing football fans a go-to resource to find seats at NFL Regular Season games, NFL Playoffs and the Super Bowl.
- Launched NFL NFT Marketplace
Ticketmaster and the NFL deployed another new gameday experience for fans, delivering more than half a million free virtual commemorative ticket NFTs during the 2021 regular season and playoffs. For the first time, all fans attending Super Bowl LVI received virtual commemorative ticket NFTs with the attendee’s seat location dynamically populated on the NFT.
“The live events industry is entering a dynamic era. Advancements in digital technology are going to rapidly accelerate enhancements to the fan experience,” said Gallo. “Ticketmaster is the partner to lead us on that journey. And, they have the capabilities and reach to deliver at the scale required by the NFL.”
